Notice is hereby given that tho City Council of Auckland intend to apply to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the present session for leave to introduce a Bill to be called THE CITY OF AUCKLAND LOANS BILL, which Bill will contain the following provisions:— 1. To empower the said Council to borrow on debentures a sum not exceeding £"200,000, I bearing interest at the rate of Ave per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly, and tho principal to be payable in fifty years, with provision for a sinking fund. 2. That for tho purposes of paying the sinking fond and interest of the aforesaid Loan, the City Council sb.*U have tho power to levy | a speciil rate, of one shilliug and three- I pence, always providing that the rates in the aforesaid City of Auckland shall not at any time from tho date of the passing of this Act exceed, with tho Library Rate levied, the sum of two shillings and one half-penny in the pound of the annua} assessments thereof. 3. That of the sum so to be borrowed only £100.00u shall bo raise-d during 18S4, nor exceeding tho sum of £25,000 during each succeeding year. 4.
