Notice is hereby gi'«sn that the City Council of Auckland intend to apply to the Goneral Assembly of New Zealand at the present session for leave to Intro* duce a Bill to be called THE CITY OF AUCKLAND LOANS BILL, which BUI will contain the following provisions : — !1. To empower tho said Council to borrow on debentures a sum not exceeding £250,000, bearing interest at the rate of five per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly, and the 5 principal to be payable in fifty years, with r provision for a siuking fund. 2. That for th« purposes of paying the sinking * P fund at.d interest of the aforesaid Loan, tho City Council slnll have the power to levy a speci il rate of one shilling and sixpence. filw*ys providing that the rates in the ' aforesaid City of Auckland shall not at any time from tho date ©f the passing of this Act exceed, with tho Library Kate levied, the sum of two shillings and three pence lmlf-pcnny in tho pound of the annual assessments thereof. 3. That of the sum so to bo borrowed only £100.000 sh'ill be raised during ISS4, and ' the balance of the aforosaid Loan during the three successive years. 4. That the Schedule of the Loan aforesaid shall contain the following proposed appropriations :— Drainage and Formation Works.. £150,000 Town Hall and Corporation Offices, Free Public Library and Art Gallery, and purchase of Site for Town Hall .. 50,000 Waterworks—Laying Mains, Additional Reservoir, and Supplementary Supply, etc. .. 50,000 £250,000 5.
