[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Oamaru, Wednesday. The rain has ceased, and it now looks as if it was going to clear up. Railway communication with Timaru will be resumed tomorrow.

Christciiubch, Wednesday. The weather has now clear-ed, and the floods are subsiding. Ashbcrtok, Wednesday.

The weather has somewhat improved, and the rivers are subsiding. With the exception of damage to roads and fences, no catastrophe has occurred. Timaru, Wednesday.

The floods subsided greatly during last night and to-day. Some considerable damage has been done to the approaches to the various road bridges in the district. No lives has been lost. Railway traffij between Christchurch and Oamaru is still suspended.
