NUISANCE IN CUSTOMHOUSESTREET WEST.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir,—l would like to know, through your valuable journal, is there *u Inspector of Nuisances in Auckland ? If so, I would wish him to call to Customhouse-street West, aud see the cesspool and other nuisances which have been lying in front of my door for some time past, although sereral applications have been made through the City Surveyer in reference to it. The stench arising from it is enough to cause a fever, especially in this hot weather. There was a drain made by the Council some time ago to take away the water, but afterwards it was filled up by parties throwing clay aud rubbish in front of tlie house. It is most disgraceful, in a populated city like Auckland. There is not another city that would allow such nuisance to remain for three hours, let alone many weeks. Trusting to have it remedied as soon as possible.—l am, &c., P. *
