THE LANDS COURT AT CAMBRIDGE.
[BY TBLKORAPJI. —OWN C'ORUESPONI>E>"T. ] Cambridge, Thursday. riiE Waotu case made substantial progress ;o-day. Dr. Buller stated fully virhat bad :ranspired at the meeting between his ;lients and Mr. Sheehan, and repotted that ill the main divisions between the three scc;ious of claimants had been decided by nutual consent, there being only one point eft unsettled as to a proposed exchange of ;w0 small pieces of ground between the Nga;ihaua and Ngatimaihi to protect existing iettlements. The only question now was .vhether the area should be twenty acres or ifty. After some discussion Mr. Sheehan proposed to make it thirty, and Dr. Buller igreed, provided that the parcels were so aid out as to give access to water. A surveyor was then called in to lay off the bounlaries, and the matter was settled accordugly. The partition agreul on gives the Ngatimaihi the southern portion, of six thousand acres, the Ngatimutu the western portion, of three thousand, and the Ngatihuia lliu central portion, of six thousand, each having a proportionate share of the totara bush. Lists of names will be put in, and the extent and position of reserves will be considered to-morrow. Te Whetu No. 2 and Whangamata blocks were then mentioned, but it seemed impossible to proceed with them at present, many of the claimants having retired to their homes after the announcement about the Whakamaru rehearing. Dr. Buller complained of the hardship to his clients in being sent home and then-immediately ordered back to the Court. The judge admitted this, and said that the whole of the confusion and inconvenience had l.ecn caused by improper interference in relation to the new assessor.
