Thk Government this morning notified to the City Council that it is their intention to take over the whole control and management of tho Wellington Hospital and charitable aid. Applications for the position of resident surgeon were to be considered by the Council to-morrow night, but the Government have requested that the applications may be handed over to them unopened. The number of applications for the position of resident eurgeon at the hospital was eight, thirty for that of steward, and twelve for (he office of dispenser.
