CORRESPONDENCE.
THE CONTAGIOUS DISEASES ACT. . TO THE EDITOR. ■ ' ■ . Sib, —Ladies very, justly demand information on the subject before signing the proposed petition againßt the enforcement of the above Act in this city. If, therefore, the petition is to be a success, it is of the utmost importance that women generally should be able to form an intelligent opinion on the Act and its workings. Hence, as I have much: information as valuable as trustworthy :to offer thereupon, such perhaps as has no one else in Auckland, I propose to hold a public meeting for women only in the beginning of next week ; the time and 'place of meeting according to advertisement. The good and true of all sects, and of both sexes, should live and work together for Inoble ends—for the happiness,' not the misery, of the people.—l am, 4c.,Ellbn E, Ellis.
