Grand totil 439 It will be seen" by the above that the Waiuku troop won the match by S5 points. The size of target was 6x4, centre 2x2, bull's eye 8 inches square throughout.. At 5 p.m., between thirty- and forty sat down to an excellent dinner provided by Host Sedgwick in the Commercial Hall. The room was beautifully decorated with flags, flbwers, evergreens, swords, carbines, &c., with a large aud excellent portrait of Her Majesty the Queen at the top end. Lieutenant Barriball occupied the chair, supported on his ri&ht by Lieutenant Bruce, and on his left by Drill-Instructor Carley. The vice-chair was occupied by 'Sub-Lieutenant Barriball, supported on his right by SergeantMajor ISigginson, and on his left by Sergeant C. T. Barriball. Justice having been done to the good things provided, the Chairman proposed the health of "The Queen," and the Vice-Chairman "The Prince of Wales and Royal Family." Before proposing the toast of the evening, the Chairman read a telegram from Captain Hamlin congratulating his troop on their success, and expressing his regret to the Te Awamutu competitors at his unavoidable absence. He then gave the health of "Our Guests," coupled with the name of Lieutenant Bruce. Lieut. Bruce returned thanks, trusting they wculd endeavour to give the Waiuku Troop as kind a reception when they returned the match as they had received. He proposed, " The Health of the Waiuku Team, coupled with tho name of Trooper May, the top scorer." Trooper May responded, and proposed, " The Health of the Lowest Scorer, Corporal Grierson," who acknowledged the compliment in an amusing manner. He trusted if he ever fired another match it would be against the Waiuku Troop. Sergeant-Major Manning proposed, "The Health of Drill. Instructor Carley." He thought great credit was due to that gentleman for bringing the two troops together. Instructor Carley replied, stating that such meetings tended to promote an harmonious feeling between the troops. The ViceChairman briefly proposed "The Health of tho Ladies," which was responded to by Sergeant A. J. Barriball. Sergeant-Major Higginson then proposed "The Health of the Host aud Hostess," saying that he was sure the'eatering for the dinner was all that the most fastidious could desire. Host Sedgwick briefly acknowledged the complimeut. After singing the National Anthem, the company separated. At 8 p.m. a ball took place in the Public Hall. The room was well filled, about thirty couples being present. Corporal Hickey, of the Waiuku Troop, ably tilled the onerous position of M.C. After a most enjoyable evening— Finlay Brothers supplying the refreshments —the Te Awamutu team left at 6.30 a.m., en route for Pukekohe. —[Own Correspondent, August 25.]
