AUCKLAND V. NORTH SHORE. t This match came off on the Domain ground on Saturday afternoon, and resulted after a hard fought game in a draw. Each side played with great determination all through. Auckland had a sllt-ht advantage, if anything, compelling North Shore to tonch down twice, and keeping the ball almost the whole time in "" their opponents* 25. The ■ forwards of each side j worked well, and some good passing by a few of the players was exhibited. Several very good serimmages J were made, and on tho whole it was one of the i hardest fought ganios that have been played on the \ Bomain ground. , PONSONBY V. GRAFTON. j The abovo clubs also played their match on tho same ground on Saturday, the gamo resulting in a * decided «in for Ponsonby by S points, two touch- ; downs and goal from field, to nil. The first score was made by T. Whiteside; who secured a touchdown for Ponsonby. The ball was brought out, and tho ] kick entrusted to Arncil, but the attempt ivas not successful—tho ball not crossing tho touch*line. In tho third term, Davey, on behalf of Ponsonby, touched i down behind Grafton's goal line, this making the second try for Ponsonby to Grafton's nil. The shot at goal was again made by Arnell. but it was a 1 failure, although almost an easy kick. Soon after, ( Braund, one of Ponsonby's full-backs, by a splendid drop kick, placed a goal to Ponsonby's credit, the ball just clearing tho goal line. At the latter end of i the match the Grafton made some determined efforts to score, at one time forcing thoir opponents to cwry the ball back and touch down. During tho game some oxccltont runs wcro made by members of both teams, M. WMtcsido being very conspicuous. NEWMARKET V. PARNELL SECOND. The foo'ball match on Saturday between the Newmarket and Purncll Second resulted in a victory for the latter by 16 points to 4 KORTII SHORE SECOND V. A"LBEItT. A football match was played on Saturday at North Shore between tho North Shore second fifteen and tho Albert, which resulted In a victory for the Albert by five points to nil. Tho Übcrt played a very open nnd fast gamo, while their opponents tried to keep tho ball in tho scrimmages, being all heavy men. Pritchard, Bruce, Goodmau, Danks, Mills, and Stuart wore tho most noticeable phiyers for tho Albert, while Gorman, Spraggon, Bailey, and Quick played exceedingly well for tho losors.
