EXECUTION OF HIROKI.

New Plymouth, June S. Hikoki, for the murder of McLean at Moonatiaki, was executed in New Plymouth Gaol this morning at 8 o'elock. Last night tho prisoner enjoyed a quiet, natural f'eep, but on waking this morning, the recollection of the solemn proceedings distressed him, and lie wept somewhat freely. He, however, recovered his composure shortly afterwards, and a cheerful disposition. Archdeacon Govett attended, and was engaged for some time in administering spiritual consolation to the condemned man, previous to his being taken to the gaolers. Ho stepped forward to tho 'spst indicated by the executioner, and stood firmly. The drop having been adjusted, and the cap put on, tho last words of the burial service had scarcely been spoken when the drop fell, and Hirckl disappeared out of sight. Death was instantaneous, as scarcely a muscle was mc-Tea.
