" BURYING" THE QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY OF IRELAND.
A (wm.KfiUAM, which we published the other day, announced that the Queen's University of Ireland had ceased to exist, so far at least as existence in name is concerned. The English papers to hand contain an account of its "burial" by the students of Belfast. These vivacious young men assembled in front of the college and one of them having played "The Dead March in Saul'" on a well-worn flute, a procession was formed, a miniature codin, on which were placed the gowns of the M.A. and U.A. students, heading it. Starting from the college, the students walking three deep, the principal streets of the town were paraded, the members of the procession exhibiting much despondency, and when the College Gardens were again reaclie.l, :i "rave was dug, thi! coflin lowered, and a suitable address having been delivered by a student, the last semblance of the " Queen's College, Belfast," was buried with all solemnity. A demonstration was held by the students at night, when an elligy of Lord Cairns was burned in conseijuence ot his connection with the Royal University Act. After a mock Irial one of the students in solemn tones sentenced Lord Cairns to be hanged by the neck until he was quite dead, and then to be consumed by tire. The .sentence was carried out, and (hiring the burniii" cheers were given for Queen's College. '
