GREYMOUTH RACES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Greymouth, Monday. The races were attended by a thousand. The day was fine till 4 p.m., when showers began to fall. GOLDFIELDS' HANDICAP, of IOOsOVS. \h miles.—Satellite, Sst., 1 ; Rose, 7st. 71bs., 2; Talent, Bst. 81bs., 3. It was rather a slow roce. Young Freeth rode Satellite, winning the race in fine style. Hokdle Handicap Race, of -iOsovs. 2 miles. —Freeth's Jack, 9st. lOlbs., 1; Bramble's Whalebone, Sst. 121b5., 2 ; Osbbrne's Shark, 9st. 121b5., 3. Every jump was taken cleanly. Dick won by three lengths. Grey Valley Stakes Handicap, of 60 sovs. 1J miles.—Longlands. 9st. 71bs., 1 ; Satellite, Sst. 71bs., 2 ; Marie Stuart, 7st. lOlbs., 3. This was a capital race. Longlands being far back in the field, people thinking he was quite out of it altogether. About half a mile from home he began to come up, and went through the field with extraordinary ease, coming in a winner. Hack Race Handicap, of lOsovs. 1J miles.—Nikau, 10st. 71ba., 1; Native, Sst. 51bs., 2; Snowdrop, 9st. 71bs., 3. Snowdrop again broke away, his jockey not being able to hold him. Nikau therefore -won easily. Forced Handicap, of 20sovs. 1£ miles. Freeth declared to win with Marie Stuart, but Dick won rather easily; Nikau 2nd, Marie Stuart 3rd. Much dissatisfaction was felt, a great many people thinking that Marie Stuart should have won.
