HAWKE'S BAY JOCKEY CLUB RACES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION - .] Napier, Thursday. The first day's races of the Hawkc's Bay Jockey Club took place to-day. Over 2000 persons were on the ground. The weather waa magnificent, and the course in splendid condition for racing. Two totalisators were on the ground, and the bookmaking fraternity was also represented. Maiden Plate of, 60sovs. Weight for age. Distance, 1A miles. Allan McLean's Louie 1 Russell's Itincraig ... ... ... ... 2 Ruahine 3 This race brought a field of six horses. Tlie Laird and Envy filly were scratched. The race was between Louie and Kincraig, the former winning easily by two lengths. Time, 2mins. 58secs. Corinthian Cup of SOsovs. 2 miles. J. Ellis' Lone Hand ... ... ... 1 W. Xathair.'s Romeo ... ... ... 2 No other started ; won easily in a canter. Napier Handicap of 500sovs. If miles. Allan McLean's Louie, 6st. 21bs 1 P. Butler's Luna, 6st. 121bs. ... ... 2 P. Martin's Mischief, 7st. 131bs 3 The result of the race was a complete " boilover." The winner was scarcely mentioned in the betting.
