[Before J. E. Macdonald, Esq., R.M.J Drunkenness.—A mail and a woman were punished for this offence.; Larceny.—On the application of the police, a charge preferred against George Pain, of stealing a purse, containing 4s in money and two gold rings, total value £2.55, the property of John Andrews, atDevonport, was remanded to Tuesday next. A second, charge against the same prisoner, of stealing £2 us (3d from the dwelling-house of Michael Quigley, Devonport, was also remanded. Damaging Property.—A charge against Kav.m Mason of damaging a door, the pro! perty of Patrick Carr, was withdrawn, prn saner undertaking to pay the cost of damage. Vagrancy.—Klizn-liufch Kfst wns Jirnnirfif; up on a ctiarpe ot a breach of the Vagrant Act by having no lawful visible means of support. She was discharged witll a caution. SuirriNG and Seamen's Act.—Benjamin Stewart and John Coleman were charged with a breach of the Shipping and Seamen's Act, 1577, by absenting themselves without leave from the ship Crowntliorpe. The men were ordered to go on board their ship. Lauceny ano Assault.—Thomas Roe and Thomas Chappel pleaded guilty to stealing some biscuits, 'worth 2s, the property of Haylock Percy. They also pleaded guilty to assaulting Haylock Percy. It seems that prisoners had robbed a little boy of the biscuits who was selling them, and struck Mr. Percy when he asked for payment for the biscuits. Prisoners said they had been previously drinking together. Ordered to pay the cost of the biscuits taken, and fined 20s cfcsts, or (in default) seven days' imprisonment for the assault. Neglected Children.—Three children named McDowell, were committed to the. Industrial School for five years each. Mrs. McDowell is a widow, and unable to support her children,
