The fencing is all thoroughly substantial, and there arc over 3000 acres ploughed on various parts of the portion to be sold. All has been sown with the exception of a few smaller blocks, which will be ready for sowing this season. The Hissington homestead block has many valuable mprovements. cultivation paddocks, Ac., a capital ' country seat, besides containing Mount M'Neil, one of the best grazing hills in Hawke's IJay. Mount Cameron is equally well known, being another block. The Ardlussa Downs are all fit for the plough. Gentle Annie and Smithtield Downs blocks contain also a large extent of lands ploughed and laid down in grass, but it is not within the limit of an advertisement to r describe each of the blocks that will be sold. The " cutting up " of this estate will be of immense j advantage to this district, the present owners having consented to this course as a step toward realising on the wliole of this magniticent property, rendered necessary by the death of one of tlie partners.

Although Rissington "Estate is so well known locally it is not out of place to state that it commences about IS miles west from Napier. The lands, though varied in feature, are rich and on limestone formation, abundantly watered by springs and ever-running streams. The whole freehold comprises about 74,000 acrcs, on which, though large sums have beer expended in improvements, instructions are to put such a moderate reserve on the portions offered (which include the longest improved land) in must ensure sale. There are about SOO cattle and 80,000 sheep and lambs now on the estate (a large draft of Wedders having been sold), the greater portion of which will be sold after the land sale, and will enable buyers to stock readily. A district branch rai way line has for some time been contemplated from the trunk line near Palcowhai to Woodthorpe, a distance of about 15 miles.
