Road Metal.—Mr. Bray's tender for 500 yards of blue metal for the main road was accepted at 7s 3d. Railavav Fakes.—Mr. Fleming said the fares by railway for season tickets were very unequal. The rate for monthly tickets was nearly double that for yearly, and he therefore moved that a communication on the subject be made to the commissioner, believing that if the monthly rate.*- were reduced many mechanics would live in OncJ hunga who could not afford to pay a wholeyear in advance.—The matter was referred to a committee to ascertain the facts exactly. Public Health.—Dr. Purchas reported two cases of scarlatina in a house where there had been other cases. Dr. Scott reported that, for a whole week, there had been no fresh cases within his knowledge, but in the last few days there had been a return, and iie had attended twelve fresh cases. He also reported that a child, not past the infectious stage, had been taken by its mother through town, to visit a friend in the Mount Roskill district, with the result that the friend's child had taken the disease. Ee considered this a breach of the 31st section of the Public Health Act,—lt was agreed that the chairman should take the necessary legal proceedings, which it was hoped would be a salutary warning to others.—[Own Correspondent, March 15.]
