Hugh Connor, on March 10, saved the life of a child which felL off the breastwork at Napier. This is said to be the eighth life Connor has saved, two at Auckland, and six at Napier. The Hon. G. R. Johnson, the Rev. J. Paterson, and Mr. T. Mason, have been elected members of the Wellington Board of Education, the Rev. J. Paterson having been re-elected. The cabmen of Christchureh have erected a monument to the memory of Thomas Kerr, the cabman who was drowned in the Heatlicote while heroically endeavouring to save the life of Richard Campbell. Dunedin was treated to something phenomenal in the way of thunder showers on March 4, a perfect torrent of half rain half hail falling for the space of half an hour or so. A gentleman in Lancashire has been fined 20s for "indecent behaviour in church." Not being prepared for the erdinary receptacle, he had taken the offertory in Jiis hat!
