WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.

[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.} OiiAUi'o, Wednesday. A meetixi: of the Waipa County Council was held yesterday. Present: The chairman (Mr. Henry Buttle), and Messrs. Steele, Bruce, Hadfield and Teasdale. A letter was read from the* Taranaki County Council, asking that of Waipa to co-operate with them in protesting against the stoppages for hospitals and charitable purposes made from the Government subsidies. It was stated that the amount stopped for the year from subsidies coining to the Waipa Council was £3G(i, and a resolution was passed "That the Council state to the Government that they are willing to pay so much per head for every patient sent to the hospital or asylum, but that under the present system, they paid far more than they received any return for." A letter was read from Mr. S. T. Seddon, stating that he was willing to make an exchange of laud for the Ohaupo and Te Rore road. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Steele,- Mr. T. G. Sandes was appointed Engineer to the county.
