WATER SUPPLY.
TO THE KDITOR.
Sir, —Replying to "A-jua Pura," I think I, at all events, enlightened him with regard to the capacity of the city water reservoirs, which he represented at nearly one-fourth of their real storage. I hardly understand what he means when lie writes of the water being available, and then asks, but under what conditions ? The facts in relation to the quantity of Mater flowing daily from the springs have been reported on by a number of engineers, and c:iti be easily ascertained by those who desire fac's, from a perusal of their reports, or by a personal inspection at the locality, which would be far preferable to making rediculous statements, based on the evidence of the man in the street. The queries asked by "Aqua I J ura" can, I believe, be answered in the negative, but the last question relative to the water not rumiijg well up hill—well, I give that up. It is, to use the words of your correspondent, such a straightforward question, that it needs some one with talents equal to " Aqua Fni-a " to ansMcr, particularly when lie writes about demanding answers, &c. He hardly deserves anyone should notice such questions upon matters that a little personal enquiry would show him to be erroneous and calculated to mislead.—l am, &c., Davliout.
