LICENSING COMMISSIONERS.
Tm: election of the licensing committee for the Mount Albert district takes place today. The temperance ticket consists of the following gcutlemen :—Messrs. A. K. Taylor, J. P., John Philipps, J. McKlwain, J.P., Edward Allen, and Robert Fry- The following arc apparently independent candidates :—Messrs. AV. H. Martin, T. Melville, S. Stuart, H. S. Wallace, and Thomas Young. The temperance party have issued a circular to the ratepayers, in which they are earnestly invited to vote for the ticket, on the ground that the majority are old residents in the district, anil will carry out the provisions of the Licensing Act in a fair and impartial manner. The polling takes place at the Mount Albert Hall, between 9 a.m. and (i p.m. The election of a licensing committee for the Takapuna district resulted in the return of Messrs. Lusk, Mackay, Hartley, Brown, and Fenton. Very little interest was manifested in the contest. Of 537 voters on the roll, only 7G polled. Some 400 could have recorded their votes without inconvenience to themselves, so near do they reside to polling stations. The voting was as follows :— Devon- Xorthj.ort. Lake. cote. Tl.
