Satisfactory prices were obtained. At Mr. G. Lewis' sale of carriage leather and trimmings the trade was \ve!l represented, and fair prices were obtained. "SEW ZEALAND LOAN" AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY. The seventeenth annual general meeting of the shareholders in tbe New Zealand Lo,in ami Mercantile Agency Company was to have been held on the 3rd February. From an advance copy of the directors' report that was to be submitted to the meeting wo take the following:— The Directors in laying before the Shareholder.! for their approval and adoption the seventeenth annual report of the company, with balance-sheet comr risinc statement of accounts nude up in the colonies to 30th September, and in I-omlon to 31st September, ISSI, be? to call their attention to the results :-- The net profit for the year ISSI. inclusive of after deduction of cxpensia, interest, commissions) and income tax, writing olf stationery anil furniture, and making ample provision fjr »U bid and doubtful debts, shows a sum of £S<) 1« 12s. Cd, of which the directors recommend the following appropriation, viz.:—To payment of a dividend at the rate »f 10 per cent. p<r annum, and interest on capital p:tid in :idTanci on old sharps, £:i1.37C 9i: payment of bonus at 5 per cent., £15,637 10s; reserve fnud, £30,000 ; be carried forward, i»,120 13s. 6d : total, tsO.HS 12s.
