TAWHIAO AND THE SPORTS AT ALEXANDRA.
[BT TELEGRAM.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.J Alexandra, Tuesday. A PICNIC in connection with the Alexandra school, took place yesterday at Puniu, with the kind permission of farmer Westney. The Alexandra band was present. Sports of all kinds were heartily indulged in by the juveniles, of whom few were missing. Refreshments were plentiful, and most hospitably served to the numerous visitors by Airs. Westney and the committee of ladies —Mesdames Wilson, Sage, Capel, Aubin, Sage, Kelly, Sturmer, Connell, Curley, Smith, Munro, and Mills. Tawhiao was present, most heartily entering into the fun. Mr. Carter, the school-master, was most indefatigable in carrying out the day's sports, and was heartily cheered by all present at the conclusion. On arrival at Alexandra a dance in the Public-hall concluded the day's enjoyment. Tawhiao is now busy preparing timber for a new vrharc.
