Rattler, Dart, and Tui also ran. Takapuna Maid was scratched. The late Lark was also entered. This wa3 a splendid race between the first two. On jumping the fourth hurdle Rattler fell, heavily, and it was feared the rider, G. Currie, was severely if not fatally injured ; but he is getting on well, aud will soon be right again. There was some confusion at the start of the race. The starter did not drop the flag although some of the riders say they were told to go, while others say they did not hear. Some went a few yards and pulled up, others went further, and Tui went the whole distance.
