[REUTER's TBLEUUA.MS.] GOVERNORSHIP OF NATAL. Cape Town, December 23. It is announced that Sir Evelyn Wood has refused the LieutenantGovernorship of Natal, and has embarked for England. A FEMALE LAND LEAGUER IMPRISONED. London, December 23. A lady land leaguer has been summoned at Cork for seditious conduct. She was committed for trial, and as she refused to give bail has been i imprisoned. FRENCH CONSUL AT TUNIS. Paris, December 23. It is announced that M. Roustan, the French delegate to the Bey of Tunis, who has been on a visit to this city, will shortly resume his post at Tunis. j RUSSIA AT WORK AGAIN. Constantinople, December 23. It has transpired that the Russian Government is opposing the settlement arrived at between the foreign bondholders' delegates and the Ottoman financial commission for the payment of the Turkish debt, on the ground that the same pledges the expenditure of certain new revenues of the Turkish empire. MORE FIGHTING IN TUNIS. Tunis, December 23. The three principal tribes in Southern Tunis continue to resist the French army, and further fighting has taken place between the latter and the insurgents. THE POPE ON THE ROMISH CHURCH. Rome, December 23. Tho Pope in receiving a deputation of cardinals to-day, stated in the course of his address that his position in Rome was daily growing unbearable, and he feared that the Church would have to submit to further severe persecution. IRISH DISLOYALTY. London, December 22. The proposed International Exhibition at Dublin has been abandoned, in consequence of the disputes which have arisen between the members or the executive committee in regard to the proposal to ask the Queen's patronage. A LAND LEAGUER RELEASED. London, December 22. Kettle, a pronounced Land Leaguer, who was arrested in May last, has been released from custody, owing to continued ill-health. MORE ARMS SEIZED. London, December 22. The seizure of thirty rifles and fifty revolvers was made to-day by the police at Limerick. A NEWSPAPER CORRESPONDENT ARRESTED. Constantinople, December 22. Mr. O'Donovan, formerly the correspondent of the London Daily News with the Russian expedition to Merv, has been arrested here for publicly slandering the Sultan. O'DONOVAN IMPRISONED. Constantinople, December 23. Mr. O'Donovan, formerly correspondent of the London Daily News, has been sentenced to six months' imprisonment for libelling the Sultan. Lord Dufterin, British Minister, is interceding with the Porte on behalf of the prisoner.
