All sold realised fair prices. Tha beef cattle offered for sale were in prime condition. At Mr. L. W. Elton's sale, bauanas realised l.\d to 3d perlb.; onions, Id per lb. "Mr. W. Don-den held a satisfactory sale of Christmas presents, consisting of hooka, albums, picture-, leather and fancy goods. The sale will be continued. Me-isiM. B. Tonka and Co. held an extensive sale of Christmas presents from tho Melbourne Exhibition, composing some lino oil paintings (sumo of which realised as as £30), water coloui.*, articles of vertu, bronzes, &o. Mr. Alfred Auckland's IlnronT.—At the Hay. market, on JJce. IG, fodder was in short supply, and brought from 3a .'id to 3s Gd per cwt. and straw 10j to 20s per load. Horses wero yarded in very largo numbers, and were principally of a useful class. Although the bidding was dull throughout the sale very few lots were passed. Six ponies from Wanganui attracted attention, and brought from £10 to £10 10s; medium draught, £17 l;"s to £20 10s; light harness
horses. £10 to £20 ; hacks, £7 to £20 10s. The crosscountry horse Hawthorn was withdrawn. At the Haymarket, on Tuesday, not many hides or sheepskins were offered, but there was a large number of small parcels of wooL There was no alteration in values. Best hides brought 4d and 4£d the lb; t dlow, 19s to 22s Od the cwt; wool, in grease, 7d to 7.] d the lb. Store cattle are offering in larger number than usual for this season of the year, and both at Pokeno and Drury there was & full muster of stock. For young cattle a stcidy inquiry continues at late rates, but grown cattle are comparatively neglected. At Itemuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in usual supply, but there was scarcely an inquiry for them, and the greater number remained unsold, cattle of all descriptions were plentiful, and fairly competed for at late values. Fat cattle were in moderate number and generally of small size and good quality, but unless for very choice quality bidding was dull, and a few withdrawn, but last week's values (from ISs to 23s the lOOlbs) were sustained. Store sheep in moderatu supply and good inquiry. Fat sheep short of requirements and slightly better worth; good wethers. IMd the lb. Lambs in average number and good inquiry ; some of choice quality brought from Ins to 18s each. Fat calves of good quality abundant and lowot than last week—ss to 10i each. Well-bred porkers in goad inquiry at satisfactory prices ; from 4d to 5d the lb. dead weight wa3 given. Hunter and Kolas'.* Weekly Report. —Horses : The supply has been very large. On Friday, at the Durham Yards, an unusually large number were brought forward, and. though the supply exceeded the demand, a lar-re number changed Uand3 at prices satisfactory to the purchaser. W% note very little alteration in last week's prices. On Monday, at the Durham Yards, hides were in full number, and sold at from SJd to 3i-i the lb ; sheepskins, ds 9d to 4s 9d; lambskins, lUd to Is Id. Cattle : Quito the usual number have been brought forward. At Waiuku, on Saturday, over an average number were entered. Competition was good, and most in were cleared at late rates. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, an average number of dairy cows and storo cattle wr-re brought forward, and a very large number of fat beasts. Bidding was good throughout the sale, especially for local cattle ; but ship-borne sold low. Sheep : The supply has been up to requirements, and at last week's rates. Lambs were yarded in full numbers, and sold at a alight advance on late quotations. Pigs in small number, and fair demand. THAMES. Messrs. Banks asd Co.'s Weekly Report (By Telegraph).—At Parawai, on Thursday, fat cattle were in average supply, mostly of good quality and heavy weight?. Owing to previ us large markets and heavy stocks in the hands of the trade, business was dull, and prices were lower than of late. Choice mediumsized steers made 25s per lOOlbs, but and heavy oxen did not average more than 225. A medinrn number of sheep were penned, but sufficient for requirements, Napier wethers bringing 2id per lb. Lambs wore asjaln numerous, and mostly good prices, ranging from 9s to 13s 6d each.
