MASONIC.

WAITEMATA LODGE.—INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS. The installation of officers of the Lodge Waitemata, E.C., took place last night in the Freemasous'-hall, Princes-street, and being the first ceremony of the sort in the new edifice there was a large attendance, not only of members of the lodge but of visitors. Amongst those present were the V.AV. Brother Lodder, D.D.G.M., E.G.; Brother Cavlaw, P.M., Lodge Eden ; Brother P.M. Trimble, Brother Fenton, P.M., Lodge Waitemata; Brother Burns, P.M., Lodge United Service ; Brother Crothers, W.M., LodgeAra; Brother Suiter, W.M., Lodge United Service ; Brother Tulty, W.M., Lodge Tamaki; and others. Brother Arthur Wright, the retiring W.M., officiated as installing master, and in an impressive and dignilied manner duly installed the new W.M.—Brother \V. G. Waddel —who then installed the following lodge ollicers :— J. Mc-Ewen, S. W. ; Captain Elliott, J.W. ; Wade, P.M. Secretary; Hats well, P.M. Treasurer; Rev. C. M. Nelson, Chaplain; Major Pirie, Organist; J. T. Untler, S.D.; W. W. Stewart, J.D.; W. H. Jacobs, 1.G.; W. G. Wheeler and A. Jackson, Stewards. After the lodge was closed the brethren assembled in the lower hall to a spread which had been prepared for the occasion, and after the viands had been disposed of, a number of toasts were proposed as follows:—"The Queen and Craft" was proposed by the W.M., and loyally responded to, after which ho proposed the health of "H.11.H. the Prince of Wales," Grand Master of the English Constitution, and patron of the Scotch and Irish Constitutions. The toast was drunk with honours. He next proposed the healths of the Grand Masters of the Irish and Scotch Constitutions— "The Duke of Abercorn and Sir Michael Shaw Stewart." The toast was drunk with Masonic honours, Brother P. M. Trimble responding for the Irish Grand Lodge, and Brother Slater, W.M. elect of St. Andrew's, for the Scotch Grand Lodge. The W.M, next proposed the health of the D.G.M— "Brother G. S. Graham," and referred in appropriate terms to his conduct in his public capacity as well as a Mason. The toast was enthusiastically responded jo, and saluted with honours. —Brother Lodder, D.D.G.M., made an appropriate and feeling response. He regretted that the D.G.M. was not present, but he would tell him of the enthusiastic manner in which, his health had been responded to.—The next toast was, "The health of the two P.G.M.'s, Brothers Pierce, 1.C., and Whitaker, 1.C." —Brother Burns responded for the former, and Brother Slater for the latter.—Brother P.M. Wado 'then proposed the toast of the evening, "The health of the newly-installed W.M." and Brother Waddel responded in a brief but pointed speech, referring to the able and impressive manner in which the immediate P.M. had performed his duties that night. He thanked them most sincerely for the manner in which the toaat of his health had been responded to, and said he would do his duty sincerely, and hoped with credit to the Lodge, to masonry in general, and to himself. The health of the installing master, Brother Wright, was then proposed by i Brother P. M. Wade, and duly responded to. Several other toasta were proposed and responded to, and althongh many of those present had to leave when the fire-bells rang, the remaining members enjoyed themselves for some time.
