Public Companies. ST- H E L 1 E R s LAND, BUILDING, AND INVESTMENT COMPANY (LIMITED). CAPITAL £50,000, Ij» 10,000 Sliares op £5 Each, 10s. payable on application, 10s. on allotment, and the balance as required. Directors: William Aitken, Esq. Thos. Lindesay, Esq. J. Bennett, Esq. Thos. Morrin, Esq. Captain J. L. Clark E. Mitchelson, Esq, J. Gilford, Esq. Dr. Piirclias. Solicitor: William Coleman, Esq. Secretary I T. W. Hickson. Bankers: The National Bank of New Zealand. Brokers: T. W. Hickson and Authorised Agents. Few classes of investments can bo named which have, as a rule, proved se largely and ccrtaialy remunerative as the purchase, in wholesale blocks, of suburban lauds, and their 2ub-divisioa and sale in sections suited to the requirements of the general public. Lands purchased within tlio last ten or fifteen years, at from £10 to £20 an acre, in the neighbourhood of Pousonl»y, 3Vlount Eden, Epsom, Remuera, and North Shore are now realizing from £200 to £700 and £800 an acre. Even at Onehunea (seven miles from town), quite recently, land for villa sites has changed hands at £200 to £3. 0 an acre. The St. Ileliers Company has been fortunate in securing the fee simple of an estate within twenty minutes' journey of town, and possessing unrivalled natural advantages for the formation of an cxceptioaally attractive seaside suburb, and this on terms which will enable the Company to offer cottage, villa, and country residence sites at prices and on terms which iciil defy competition, and icill, at the same time, secure to Hharfh-lders an immediate, certain, and highly satisfactory return. The Estate consists of the three properties, recently belonging to the Auckland Stud Company, Messrs. Gifford and Evans, and Messrs. Goliad, containing some 551 acres (and including the whole of the late General Taylor's "Glen Orchard," property), situated at the eutr.uice of the W'aitemata Harbour, to which it has an extensive froutage, as well as to roads in the vicinity of St. John's College. To many the place is familiar. To describe and do justice to its manifold beauties within the limits of a prospectus, even if desirable, would scarcely be practicable. Suflice it to say that experienced travellers have gone so far as to declare that its scenery surpasses anything they have ever sec . in other parts of the world, and to prcdict for the undertaking a future of unrivalled prosperity. It is within such easy reach of town that anyone desiring to satisfy himself of the truth of the 'assertion can have no ditliculty in doing so, to which end every facility will be Riven by the Directors or Secretary. The distance by road can be covered with ease in a trap in forty-five minutes from town. The route is by Newmarket, Remuera, and St. John's College. The Dirt ctors have entered energetically into the work of opening the place up without loss of time, and. to this end, have made arrangements for the erection of a pier, at which largo steamers may land passengers in comfort and safety. They have also in contemplation the purchase of a first-class paseenger steamer, to run regularly between the pier and Queenstreet Wharf, a trip which (bciug under 4£ miles) may be done in from 20 to 30 minutes. Steps have also been taken for opening up a new and more direct road through Orakei, which will considerably lessen the distance by road. The survey of the estate i 3 being vigorously pushed on, necessary reserves beiug made for recreation and other public purposes, including an esplanade along the wn-le length of the water front ige, A portion of the native bush, several acres in extent, will be care* fully preserved, and roads and sections will be laid off in such a way as to give easy access throughout all pirts of the property and to the many beautiful sites its verdure-clad slopes afford. The Company has been formed under favourable auspices, a large number of shares having been already tikenup, the Company jegistercd, and the purchase of the property completed. The Articles of Association, together with maps and photographs of the estate, are open for inspection at the Ueg.stered Utliee of the Company, Great Northern Land Agency Rooms. Applications for Shares can be made to the Secretary or to any .Member of the Ancklaud Brokers' Association. K OSPECTUS. FISHER AND COMPANY (Limited.) Managing Director or Pcrvkyino Department John Fisher This Company proposes to purchase tho business of Messrs. Fisher and Co., of Auckland, and to carry on the wholesale and retail Butchering, Meat Freezing, and Preserving trade, together with Felimongery, Tanning, and other (-ranches of the business which may bo found expedient, and it is contldeutly expected that with increased capital and improved appliances, the present protitablo business can be very much further developed. Two months since orders were sent home for % Bell Cokumn Freezing Machine, capable of freeziug 1$ tons measurement, aud manufacturing two tons of ice daily. It is mumfo.tt that in a warm climate, such as ours, thU process will enable tho Company to carry on operations with economy and success, as with a properly litted-up chilling chamber, there will be no necessity to feed a heavy stock of cattlo, sheep, and poultry, as the supply can be regulated exactly by the requ reiuents of the trade ; the meat being only chilled, not frozen, will keep fully iorty-eight hours lunger tliau meat killed undor the most favourable conditions. ft will also offer great facilities for storing butter, game, and other perishable goods ; and enable the 2sorth of .New Zealand to compete successfully with any other part of the Colonies in tho manufacture of bacon, curing hams, and production of preserved meats. T ANNERY AND FELLMONGERY.—The latter has bnen carried on by Messrs Fisher and Co. during the last twelve months, aud with a view of extending the business to tanning and woolscouring, a dam was erected, capable of holding half-a-million gallons of water, and a 4 inch pipe laid a distance of 1,300 feet, to the lirst building erected on tho site; and Mr, Aickin, C.E., has surveyed and made plans for a dam to hold three million gallons of water. The supply of water is admitted by experts to be practically unlimited, and good judges, who hare inspected the Otahuhu property, agree that great foresight and judgment have been shewn in laying out the works or a largo and incre.ising business. Mr. Thomas Russell has very kindly sent out a com* plete plan and specilication for a Model Tannery and Felimongery, using tramways and every appliance of the most modern construction. This will be of immense advent ige to tho proposed Company, enabling them to make a large outturn of a very superior article and having the benetit of the very latest scientific improvements lu its manufacture. Arrangement* have been made with the Govern* ment to have a station on the site of the works, thus enabling th-< Company to c;»rry on a large shipping and carrying business, with every facility and despatch. it is also proposed to utilise all refuse in the manu* facture of a superior manure. These works have been in operation six months, and the article produced has given the greatest satisfaction. Mr, "William Aitken and a Committee selected from the Provisional Directors have inspected all the freehold properties of Messrs. Fisher and Co., and have arranged the valuations on a most satisfactory basis. The live stock, carts, and general stock-in-trade will be valued by Mr. Jas. Wallace and Mr. Robt. llall, and the business taken over on the Ist day of January, 1832. Messrs. Fisher and Co. accept 25.000 paid-up shares in the Company, in full payment for all the freehold properties, furniture, «fcc. It is proposed that Mr. ; Fisher should act as Managing Director of the meatpurveying department, and Mr. Banks of the tannery and felimongery, <fcc. Intending subscribers should send in their applications at onoe to Messrs. A. Saunders aud Charles Alexander, Brokers for the Company, as already there are many applications for shares.
