[BY CABLE.J [reuteb's cablegram.] SEVERE STORM IN ENGLAND. London, October 14. A very severe hurricane has been experienced on the English coast, causing numerous wrecks, and an immense damage to the shipping and seaport towns. Several lives have been lost through the disasters -which occurred. IRISH AGITATORS. j London, October 14. Numerous meetings are being held in Ireland, at which proposals have been made by various speakers that the tenants generally should refuse to pay any rent until Mr. Parnell has been released. A special Gazette has been issued by the Irish Executive today, in which " Boycotting" and coercion to join the League are proclaimed criminal acts. MORE IRISH ARRESTS. London, October 14. Several further arrests of prominent agitators have been made. Among those now in custody are Mr. Arthur O'Connor, member of the House of Commons for Queen's County ; Mr. J". O'Kelly, member for Roscommon ; Mr. T. Seaton, member for Sligo; and Mr. Quinn, secretary of the Land League. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mr. Healey, M.P. for Wexford, and other arrests are known to be imminent.
THE LAND LEAGUERS. London, October 14. It has transpired that the warrant under which Parnell was arrested charged him with the intimidation of the people to prevent their utilising the Land Act or paying rents. Since Parnell's arrest several meetings of the Land League have been held in Ireland, at which defiant speeches were made by prominent Leaguers. Considerable excitement has been caused throughout the country by the action of the Executive, and the feeling is extending. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE. Washington, October 13. At the meeting of the Senate to-day Mr. Davis, a neutral member, was elected President in place of Mr. Bayard, democrat,' who was recently elected temporarily to that position.

THE TOBACCO CROP. Melbourne, October 15. Private telegrams have been received here stating that a frost has destroyed fully 25 per cent, of the "Virginia tobacco crop. MR. JUSTICE MOLESWORTH. Melbourne, Octqber 15. His Honor Mr. Justice Molesworth, who has for some time been in ill health, has recovered, and has resumed his duties on the Bench. MELBOURNE CUP. Melbourne, October 15. The following further scratchings for the Melbourne Cup are announced : — Dundreary Lord Lisgar, Marmora, and Velox. CAULFIELD GOLD CUP. Melbourne, October 15. The race for the Caulfield Gold Cup was run to-day, and was won by Master Avenal, with Pirate second. Only two started. ARRIVAL OF THE JOHN ELDER. Adelaide, October 15. Arrired, this afternoon : The Orient Company's steamship John Elder. SUEZ MAIL STEAMER. Melbourne, October 16. Arrived, this morning : The P. and O.
