CIVIL SERVICE CRICKET CLUB.
The annual meeting 'of the Civil Service Cricket Club was held in the long room, Custom-house, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. There was a numerous attendance of members, and Captain Thomas occupied the chair. The report lead by the secretary, Mr. C. Rowe, stated that the club had been a decided success in the number of members who had joined, and that it had made many friends of those who would otherwise have been perfect strangers. The first eleven played 14 matches, of -which they won 2, lost 11, and one was -drawn. Of the lost, the club played two men short '<i one match, and in another three was a scotch team, of whom only two were member? uf the club, so that virtually only 3 mate lies wei e lost. Of course they could not expect to cope with clubs which had been established for years. Although they had somo good players, the greater number of these belonged to or played for other clubs. Mr. Milk' bat had been won by Mr. Swanson, with an average of 15 runs in 7 matches and 9 innings. The number of members who had joined was 92. Receipts, £33 9s ; expenditure, £35 v lss; liabilities, £2 5s .9d. The report was adopted. It was resolved : That members now in arrears be not allowed to take part in matches until they have paid their subscriptions; but" no member be allowed to play for another club if previously asked to play for this one ; that no member of the club be allowed to play in any match against it; that members taking part in any match in the Domain contribute sixpence each towards the expense of the wicket; that Messrs.
