A NEW TRIAL FOR BRAD- • LAUGH. London, August 8. The Court of Queen's Bench has granted an order for a new trial in the case of Clarke v. Bradlaugh, in which the verdict was returned for the plaintiff on the 22nd ult, : THE RELEASE OF, DILLON. London, August 8. Mr. Dillon, it has transpired, was released from Kilmainham Gaol on account of his health. It is reported that the close confinement he has suffered since his arrest in May has caused him to he seriously indisposed. WITHDRAWALS OF GOLD. London, August S.. Large withdrawals of gold were made to-day from the bank for South America. RELEASE OF JOHN DILLON. London, August 7. Mr. John Dillon, M.P. for the county of Tipperary, who was arrested on the 2nd of May- last, under the Irish Protection Act, and who has. been lodged in KLilmainham Gaol since the date named, was to-day released from custody. | SERIOTJS RAILWAY COLLISION. . Two fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to-day from Croydon, about five miles to the west of the city. The Board of Health have not yet decided whether the patients, two children, named "Wyndrom, shall be removed to the quarantine station, or left under the care of their parents. ADJOURNMENT OF VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT. Melbourne, August 9. The Victorian Parliament was adjourned to-day to the 31st of September. A LIBEL ACTION. Brisbane, August 9. In the libel action brought by Mr. Ooote, jun., against the proprietors of the Evangelistical Standard, in which damages were laid at £100, a verdict has been returned for defendants. SHIPPING. Melbourne, August 9. The Peninsular and Oriental Company's steamship Kaiser-i-Hind, with the Suez mails, which left London on the Ist July, arrived here yesterday morning. CORRECTION.
