THE GOLDFIELDS.
[BY TELECRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Corojiandel, Thursday. Blackmore's got about 501bs. of very rich stone to-day, -which is estimated to average 2ozs. to the pound. They have several hundred pounds of rich picked stuff on hand, all taken from the large reef, which still looks magnificent. It is the best show that has been got in Goromandel for years. Barhett's are getting a fair show of gold higher up the hill on their large reef. Home Rule are getting splendid specimensfrom the intermediate level, driving towards Blackmore's. The iow level is in splendid country. The reef looks first-class. A little gold is showing. Several tons of good crushing stuff are on hand.
Tiernan's reef is greatly improved. In the low level the country is rather hard. They are getting a large quantity of good crushing stufi" from the outcrop. Gold is seen daily. Stab of Tiki are driving on the leader in the low level, and getting first-class crushing dirt. A few picked stones are got at every breaking down. Success.—A wonderful improvement is made in the prospects of this mine. The reef is opened out a good deal, and. is much softer. Good gold and stuff are coming to hand daily. There is a rumour that a. large haul of gold was eot to-day. This is in driving into the hill into the solid ground. It is giving immense backs for stoping. jSTew Colonial are following up the Success leader, and expect to cut the reef in about a week. The country is first-class.
Qceen of England.—The contractors have a fine leader on hand. Their drive is showing good prospects. The country is rather tight, but fair progress is made. New Paii are getting golden stone at every breaking down from the intermediate level to the seaward. A few good stones came to hand to-day.
Us ion Beach commenced operations from the Pah shaft. Tiiey intend to cross-cut for several leaders known to exist near the Pah ground.
Bismarck has drained the water from the upper level, and expect to break through tomorrow. The reef in the low level is Inuch broken.
