The death of Earl Beaconsfield is deeply deplored by all political parties, and lias created a profound sensation throughout Europe. It is officially announced to-day that Her Majesty the Queen has expressed great grief at the loss of her most valued and devoted friend and eounseller the late Earl. EARL BEACONS FIELD'S LAST MOMENTS. London - , April 19. The bulletin published this morning with reference to Earl Beaconfield's death states that after a severe relapse, which his Lordship suffered during the night, he sank rapidly, and breathed his last at half-past 4: this morning. The attendants stare that his Lordship passed away without much pain, and as peacefully as if sleeping. The news of Earl Beaconsfield's death has been received with universal sorrow and regret throughout the country. AUSTRALIAN MUTUAL PROTI- 1 DENT SOCIETY'S REPORT. Sydney, April 20. The report of the Australian Mutual Provident Society for the past year has ' been issued. It shows that 9623 proposals for life assurance were submitted during the year, 6551 being accepted, assuring £2,181,258. The new premiums amount to £74,666. Claims have arisen on 261 policies, amounting to £121,413. The accumulated funds of the society nowamountto£3,379,slo, being an increase of £445,713, as compared with the previous year.
