DR. WOOD'S LETTER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As you have published Dr. Wood's letter, I hope that you will allow me to say that I made no "assertion" respecting the Roman Catholic Church ; that I simply read some of their prayera' to the Virgin, and asked_ whether such prayers gave " supreme" or "inferior" honour to her, and whether they -were based upon any warrant o£ Scripture. Anyone can follow the course that I adopted. He can buy the small editions of the " Garden of the Soul," or the "Key of Heaven," and look at pages 119 322, and 333 of the " Garden of the Soul," and pages 26, 27, 36, 52, 53, 54, and 105 of the "Key of Heaven." If he can get a look at the " Missale Romamun" he may look at pages vlviii. and cxxv., and then look at Dr. Wood's words, namely, "The fact is, the Roman Catholic religion teaches that Divine honour must be paid to God alone; and that to pay it to any creature of God in Heaven above, or in earth beneath, is unlawful, and constitutes the dreadful crime of idolatry." As for the " disrespectful language of Jesus to His Virgin Mother," I merely quoted His words from the Bible, but I fear that .Dr. Wood does not much trouble that book.—l am, &c, R. Mauxsell.
