THE ART UNION.
Last night the art union was drawn, and excited a great deal of interest. There was a large attendance. The drawing was accomplished in the most public manner possible. Mr. J. Martin explained the method of procedure, and the Hon. H. Chamberlin and Mr. E. A. Mackechnie acted as scrutineers. Each ticket was 10s. The sums gained as prizes were to be spent in the purchase of pictures in the exhibition. The prizes were gained as follows :—£2o, H. Brett; £10, Ch. Gray; £10, T. Buddie; £5, Lennox (Rcmuera); £5, T. Cooper; £5, G. Aickin ; £5, Mears ; £5, J. Chambers ; £5, P. A. White; £8, B. Ireland ; £4, A. Atkin ; £3, J. C. Firth; £3, F. D. Fenton ; £3, Burcher; £3, Dewar; £3, Mrs. 'saacs; £3, W. Aitken. We have no doubt that today a large number of the works of art will be sold.
