WAIKATO TURF CLUB.RACES. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Hamilton Friday. The following entries and acceptances were received this evening for the AVaikato Turf Club Races : — Handicap Huhdles. —Acceptances : Lone Hand, Sportsman, Te Whetu, Harry Mount, Harold, Blink Bonny, and Te.npest. Maiden Plate.—Entries : Rosarina, Orakau, Rose of Sherwell, and Kenilworth. Turf Club Handicap. — Acceptances : Maori (late Auckland), Lone Hand, King Quail, Hippocampus, Yatapa, Kenilworth, and Golden Crown. President's Stakes.—Entries : Slander filly, Rosarina, .Maori (late Auckland), Ratcatcher, Lone Hand, and Te Whetu. TE AROHA RACE MEETING. Morgantown, Thursday. Maiden Plate: Nine faced the starter. Dewdrop, 9st. ylbs., 1 ; Emu, 9st. 51bs., 2 ; ] Tipo, Ost ulbs., 3. Maori Race : Taipo, 1 ; Te Ana, 2 ; Mountain, 3. Won by a head, after the best race of the day. Pe Arolia Cup Handicap of 7osovs.: Two miles. Golden Crown, 7st. 21bs., 1 ; \atapa, 9st. 71bs., 2 ; Bundara, 7st. olbs., 3;- Harold, 7st. 41bs, 0 ; Dewdrop, 7st. Slbs.. 0. It was a grand race, won by one leu th, two lengths separating second and third horses. Hurdle Race of 30sovs.: Two miles, over eight flights of hurdles. Seven started. Hurricane, 1 ; Harold, 2; Loafer, 3. Tempest, Radical, and Destiny also ran. Hurricane, who took the jumpsinsplendidstyle,woneasily- Theothers baulked at the third hurdle and several of the jockeys came to grief. Publicans' Purse: Ratcatcher walked over. Maori Race : Seven faced the starter. John John won after a well-contested race. For the Consolation only two started —\ atapa and Bundara. The latter won by half a length. Yatapa was backed heavily to win the Cup, and the Hurdle Race was" looked upon as a gift for Harold. The Panmureites have dropped a pot of money on the Cup. There was a good attendance —about (jOO people being on the course. At a meeting of the stewards held last evening the Maiden Plate prize, of 20snvs., was awarded to Emu, Dewdrop having previously won an advertised prize amounting to over £12. In the Cup Race Bundarra takes second place, owing to unfair riding on the part of Yatapa's jockey. POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB MEETING. •SECOND PA V. ' [r.Y TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Giseorne, Friday. Hurdle Rack Handicap, over S flights of hurdles. Distance, 2 miles—Matau, 1 ; Skysail, 2 ; Rata, 3 This was a splendid race, Skysail taking the hurdle first, and the rest following in graml style. Not a single horse baulked at any of the hurdles. In the second round, up the straight, Skysail kept the lead to within a few yards of the judge's post, closely followed by Matau. The latter, when nearing the. judge's post, under the application of the whip, by a gram! effort, 1 forged to the front, winning by a neck, with .Skysail second and Rata third, at a long distance. Matau appeared to bo thefavourite in the s weeps'atid the totalisator, which was well patronised by the public. Fly was scratched. Hack Hurdle Rat;:. Ten stone up — Ropihana's Macati, 1 ; Bailey's Luck's-All, 2; Green's Silvio, 3. Six entrances. This was a capital race, the riders apparently doing their best. Pl'blicans' Purse Handicap. Distance, 1 j miles. —Mavis. 1 ; Matau, 2; West End, 3 ; Paramena, 4. There was a good start, AYest End leading half round the course, when -Mavis overhauled. West End, who appeared done up. Matau passed West End, and challenged Mavis, who responded by easily passing him, winning by a length. Tcranga Stakes Handicap of lOOsovs. Distance, 2 miles—Merlin, 1 ; Angler, 1; Foul Play, 3; Director, 4. This was the race of the day, and much interest was felt in the result. At the totalisator and the grand stand, Director was freely backed, notwithstanding he was declared as carrying 311bs. overweight. Merlin was second favourite. As for Foul Play, being heavily weighted, few cared to back his chance to win. In the first round Angler appeared first, Director second, the rest following in a heap, Foul Play bringing up the rear. In the straight running the horses came in, Merlin leading, on his left Angler with Foul Play trying to cut in between them, but failing to do so, lost his chance. Paramena was scratched. Angler declared 31bs., and Flying Beauty Slbs. over. Consolation Handicap, I uiile and a distance.—Angler, 1 ; Ruapehu, 2; Scrip, 3. This was a well contested race. WAIRARAPA RACES. Wellington, Friday. About GOO people were present at the races, being the sccond day. Hurdle Race.—Agent, 1 ; Kangaroo, 2; Kohi, 3. Raven threw his rider.
