LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—.SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] ■Wellington, Friday. THE MINISTERIAL VACANCY. . It is noiv practically certain that the Ministerial vacancy will not be filled up for two'or throe weeks at the least, and it is doubtful, whether before the end of the month. There is no need of hurry, and the present temporary arrangements would work very well if necessary for a month or two. Certainly, no appointment will be made until most of the Ministers re-assemble in Wellington. It is quite certain neither Mr. Ormona nor Mr. G. McLean will be the new Minister, nor any Otago or Canterbury man, whatever the Opposition journals may say. Probably it may be taken for granted that the appointment will not be made before next mouth. THE COLONIAL TREASURER. Major Atkinson's lameness continues serious, and his medical attendants are apprehensive tliat recovery will be very tedious. He intended to address his Egmont constituents at an early date, but this is now rendered quite impracticable. THE PREMIER AND HIS CONSTITUENTS. I am authorised to contradict the report that Mr. Hall will address his Selivyn constituents shortly. Ho has never intended addressing them before May, aud has no intention whatever of doing so. He will meet them just before the session, and explain the Government party programme, but will not speak earlier. The report that Mr. Bryce has given way to him on this account is therefore wholly unfounded. Mr. Bryccn address to the electors in 110 way dcpsntls on Mr. Hall's. MR. OLIVER. Mr. Oliver returns on Sunday. Tiie rumours of his contemplated retirement are utterly without foundation, so far as liii colleagues arc aware.
