It is hereby notitled for Public information that the resolution of the City Council, asking the Ratejmyers to record their votes for and against the establishment of Tramways within the City, on the ICth instant, in no manner implies the intention of the Council to proceed with any such undertaking, the Council merely desiring to ascertain tho opinion of the Ratepayers as to whether the establishment of Tramways would be considered a desirable convenience to the City. The "Tramways Act, 1572," and tho "Municipal Corporations A ct, IS7C" provides that, before the Council proceeds with such an undertaking, a Special Poll must be taken for the purposes, and that, in the notice of the intention to take such Poll, full particulars, and plans of routes of the scheme proposed to be adopted, or amount of monies to be borrowed for such undertaking, with the security offered, shall be set forth.
