1 '.TO THE KDITOK. . -> Sm, —Having" fori years- advocated -tlie 1 necessity of the greatest, liberty being ac- , corded to settlers on the clay lands of :the - North, allow me.to congratulate-my f settlers at the Wade that the pound business ; (the curse to such a district as this, with so - much wilderness waste) was not so far adj vanced as even to.admit of discussion. The ' repeal of the Fencing Act was bad enough, 2 but the introduction of a public pound would , crown the fallacy, of any attempt of new 2 settlers, i.e., on waste lands, to make a home. I know . not who amongst us - would sign a petition asking for fetters on the energies of their fellows, but I have no c hesitation in saying by' such act they "are, I / and would be a barrier to the advancement of i I the public weal.—l am, A.
