BY TELEGRAPH.

WELLINGTON. February 9.—Messrs. Leary and .Campbell report:—Pine apples, 3s 3d to 3s Sd ; plums, 5s 6d ; peaches, os per case; cucumbers, Is per dozen. Apples remain a drug, and it is impossible to quit a line. Potatoes and onions, too, are very languid, the demand being more than supplies. Eggs, Is 2d to Is 4d ; ducks, 4s I 6d; fowls, 4s ; fresh butter, 5d to ojd, very dull of sale ; nominally, 4Jd to 3d ; bacon, 7Jd to Bid, with very little business doing. Other quotations remain unaltered. I - DUNEDIN. February 9.—With fat cattle the market is fully supplied at 20s per lOOlbs. The fat sheep ( supply is moderate, at 2d per lb. Store cattle i are in good demand. Store sheep are in strong demand. In wheat there is no business of importance, pending tbe arrival of the new crop ; i quotations are nominal. Oats, milling, are also nominal, at Is 7d; feed, Is 4d to Is 6d. In t barley there is no business. 1 LONDON. f Oy.kT latest dates are to the 30tli December ; From the New Zealnad Loan and Mercantile • Agency Company's circular of that dat 6, we i take the following quotations * Stock Markets. —During the three weeks immej diately preceding the Christmas holidays a very , large business has been transacted in these markets. One of the principal features of that period was the ' success attending the floating of the India 3<V per | cent, loan for £3,500,000 on Bth instant. The applications were found to reach £14,500,000 at prices varying from the minimum of £9S to £104 5s per i cent. The demand fay colonial securities has continued, and prices are well maintained. New Zealand 6 per cents, are about 1 higher, the per cents, mark a rise of 2, and the new 5 per cent, loan has advanced £ since second instant. The remaining issues of that colony are without alteration. COLONIAL GOVBRNMBMT SECURITIES.

"Wool. —The history of the colonial wool sales for the year ISSO stands out in marked contrast to that of its predecessor During the first nine months of the earlier year there was a persistent decline, while with the exception of about ten days at the commencement of the second series of the later year, when prices were for a time unduly inflated, a fairly uniform level of values may be said to have been maintained. The result, viewed broadly, has been an average advance of about 22 per cent, in the value of the staple in ISSO as compared with 1379. The year now drawing to a close opened without any incubus of held over stock, but will give to its successor a lcgacy of some 15,000 bales for future disposal. AVhile the aggregate of the catalogues, 987,903 bales, for ISSO, falls short of the aggregate, 1,020,441 bales, for 1879, the supples which have passed into consumption during the two years exhibit no great disparity, the quantities sent to various manufacturing centres in 1579 having been estimated at 69,400 bales, against 105,000 bales in ISSO. Since the close of the fourth series but littlo business has eventuated by private treaty. Tallow.—We quoteP.Y.C., new, 30s Cd per cwt; Australian mutton, fine, 35s to 365; Australian mutton, medium, 33s to 34s Ud; Australian beef, fine, 32s tid to 33s (sd; Australian beef, medium, 31s to 325. Leather and Hides.—We quote :—Best sides, averaging 13$ to lGflbs each, 10Ad to llid per lb; light sides, averaging 95 to lllbs each, 10ld to ; extra heavy, averaging 20 to 22ilbs each, 10.\d to 11-}(I; seconds, averaging 13 to IGlbs each, 9Ad to IOJd. Basils.—"We quote : —Best strained skins, averaging Sto lOlbs per dozen, 14Ad to IG:Jd per lb; seconds, averaging 10 to 17£lbs per dozen, 10idtol3.jd; unstrained, averaging" 10.} to 2Ulbs per d'ozen, 73 to lid. Salted Hides.—We quote: Sydney heavy ox, 5d to s£d per lb; Sydney light ox, 4-£ dto s|d; Sydney seconds, 4?d to 5d : Sydney cow, 4ijd to s£d. Preserved Meats.—Wo quote: Boiled Mutton, 21b tins, 53d to 6}d per lb; boiled mutton, 41b tins,"4ild to old; boiled mutton, 01b tins, 5d to 5 J t d. Boiled beef: 2lb tins, s.\d to s£d per lb; boiled beef, 41b tins, 4ffd to 5d ; boiled beef, 01b tins, 4Ad to sd. Babbit Skins.—We quote: Good to prime skins weighing l£ to 2}lbs per dozen, 19jd to 22d per lb.; common to medium, weighing 1? to 21bs per dozen, ; 151 to lS]d ; small and suckers, weighing £ to £lb per dozen, 12d to 13d. i Corn Market.—The demand for wheat is, as is usual at tills time of the year, on a limited scale, and is accompanied by a feeling of depression consequent upon a rapid fall in values in the United States. New Zealand wheat, of good quality, is in request, but inferior parcels are not easily placed. Oats and barley are rather lower. To-day's quotations ex granary are as follow: South Australian wheat, 493 to 50s per 4901bs ; Victorian, 4Ss to 50s; New Zealand, long berried, 47s to 50s; New Zealand, ordinary, 45s to 47s ; New Zealand, inferior, 40s to 435; Australian flour, 35s to 30s per 2Solbs; New Zealand flour, 30s to 355; New Zealand oats, fine, 23s to 31s per Imperial quarter; New Zealand oats, ordinary, 21s to 255; New Zealand barley, malting, 32s to 42s per 44Slbs ; New Zealand beans, 45s to 47s per 5041bs ; New Zealand oatmeal, 200s to 210s per ton. Kauri Gum.—There is a steady consumptive demand for all descriptions. Prices of fine qualities, which are scarce, are rather dearer, but medium and common sorts, being plentiful, have declined 5s to !0s per cwt. Latest quotations are: Pale selected, 135s to 165s per cwt; good, hard bold scraped, 71s to 955; middling sorts, 50s to 62s ; pickings, 45s to 4Cs ; chips, 44s to 56s ; dust, 37s to 425. Mother O' Pearl Shells. —We quote: Green ear (New Zealand), bold and medium, 9d to 14d per dozen. Cotton.—Of Fiji descriptions, only 20 bales have changed hands at 21d for good-quality. No business in Tahiti has been reported. Copra.—The market is depressed,.£l7 per ton being the top price for good quality of Sydney. Smokedried parcels are quite out of favour with cruslier3and would probably not bring more than £15 per ton. Cocoa Nut Oil.—We have again to report a dull market. Cochin we quote at £33 to £33 10s per ton, with very little demand; nor is there much better inquiry for Ceylon, which is offered at £3115s per ton in pipes and £32 5s in hogsheads. £32 10s per ton is asked for distant arrival.
