MR. TEBBS ON EDUCATION.
TO THE EDITOR Sir —Having read Mr. Tebbs's letters. T cannot but come to the conclusion that h* must have a " down" on the present system of education, and it cannot possibly be on account of its inefficiency, for it lias not had sufficient time yet to prove what it is capable of doing He complains of the depredations caused by the articles" turned out bv thp secular system and the annoyance to his children. Well, one would be apt to be sin ful enough to think that the secular system had not all to do with the mischief, when he considers that St. Matthew's school i» right next door to the parsonage". But, be that as it may, why should Smf •> so anxious about the children ? Do they consider the parents unfit in every instance to look after their offspring, or do they consider these articles easier dealt with ? Considering I 1 m i parents have the training of the children, why are the clergy not manly enough to assail the stronger enemy' and when they have brought the parents to feel that religious education is necessary for their children, they will either impart' it themselves or send them to church and Snndavsehool. It is very probable that, when the question comes to be decided once more, Mr lebbs will find that lie has reckoned without his host, -when he laid down the supporters se jular education as the " clamorous minority."
