SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

A boy named James Elwarth, years of age, whose parents live in William-street, met with a serious accident yesterday morning. This lad, with his brother, John Edward Elwarth and Richard Das'is, went to Ballantine and Gammel's stables in Victoriastreet for the purpose of taking horses to the sea beach, Freeman's Bay. James El worth "was riding in front, and when they caine to a drain opposite the new gasometer, his horse iumped it, but the boy fell, and became entangled in a bight of the rope bridle, which caught him round the waist. He was dragged for some distance along the ground before the horse was caught by a man named Samuel Cross. When the boy was released he was unconscious, and was cut on head and face. The boy was removed to his parents ! home. Dr. Hooper was called, and stated that the lad was in a very precarious state.
