. TE AROHA. Our Hamilton correspondent writes: — There are not a few at the Te Aroha goldfield who believe, from the quantity of free 8 j , foun( i ie mullocky leaders and the casings of other leaders, that alluvial washings may be discovered. One doublebox shaft is being sunk on the flat, and is already down 40 feet without trouble from water. The boulder country has been got through, and the sinking now is in favourable and likely-looking ground. Above and below the present site of the goldfield, are two large creeks, both of which present a likely appearance for alluvial gold, more especially the Tuhi, about three miles down the river, the bed of which it is thought would pay for sluicing. About four miles abo\ e the Prospectors, is a large creek, where there appears room for alluvial sinkmg on the old beds. From the manner in which the reefs cross these creeks, not at right angles but obliquely, there is the more reason, as old miners well know, to believe that they will pay for working.
