The following quantities were catalogued Sydney, 21,591 bales ; Victoria, 28,040 : Adelaide, 9522 ; Swan River, 266 ; Tasmania, 1410 ; New Zealand, 25,380 Cape and Natal, 37,459 bales. Out of a total available stock of 131,879 bales, about 10,500 bales (500 Atrstralian and 10,000 Cape) went forward direct to the and the Continent, and it is estimated that about 15,000 bales, of which 9500 aTe Cape, remain in first hands for future sale. The quantity bought for export is estimated at 50,000 bales. About 15,000 bates of new clip (1880-81) have come forward in time for these auctions, a larper instalment than has ever come at so early a date. The series has been well attended by Home buyers, but the foreign trade was represented only to a Hmited extent, many of ' the leading French and German spinners being absent. Messrs. J. T. Simes and company remark that " For all cross-bred wools of the broader type, of which there has been a large supply, more particularly in New Zealand produce, the demand has been growing weaker, but a strict distinction must be made between these and quarter-bred wools, i.e., just first and second remove from merino; these quarter-bredß have sold well throughout." Messrs. Webster, Darvall, and Co. state that "There was little New Zealand produce, but the quarter-bred sorts were rather dearer than ill September, the lower grades more closely approximating to English being unchanged.' KAT-m Gnit.—Fair to good hard part scraped at 05s to 72s ; pood pale, ££ to £6 17s 6d : rough to fair hard, 40s to 565. Horns.—Of 266,340 Australian and New Zealand ox and cow, about one half sold; av. 6?- to 6f ozs., 9s Gd to 12s ; 73 to 13J ozs, 15s 6d to S3s ; "*l3l to 14g ozs, 37s 6d to 44s 6d per 100. Ear Shells.—Of 107 cases 69 cases New Zealand, IS cases 00 casks sold at a further decline of about 3d ; good bold. Is Id ; one lot, Is 2d ; bold rather mixed, 9d to lOd; bold and medium, part stale, 6d per dozen. Copra.—The supply exceeds the demand, and little or no business has been done at £17 15s to £18, for merchantable to good Sydney, and at £17 5s to £16 for lower qualities. 110 tons Auckland offered by auction were bought in—fine, at £18 10s. Wheat and Flour. — Messrs. Burrows and Perks remark that New Zealand wheat as usual is of very varied quality, at from 40s to 42s for inferior sorts, 44s to 46s for ordinary to good, and 47s to 49s for picked samples, all per49olbs. ex store. Superfine Adelaide and Melbourne brands of flour are in poor request at about 35s to 35s 6d : fine, 33s to 34s ; and households, 30a to 31s. all per 2301b5. gross ex store. Tallow.—We quote mutton, fine, at 35s to 35s 6d ; fair to good, 333 6d to 34s 6d ; beef, fair to good, 32s Gd to 33s 3d per cwt, with a few lots, fine, for edible purposes selling at from 35s to 375. Messrs. Staley, Radford, and Co. quote rates from London to Auckland ; Rousjh measurement, .-50s; fine, 40s; liquids. 55s ; weight, 30s ; cement, 5s per cask : beer, 10J per dozen • salt, 30s. The tonnage loading on the berth at London on December 9 for India, China, and the Cape of Good Hope amounted to 35.798 tons, and for Australia and New Zealand to 46,153 tons.
