ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE OF THE P.M. S.S. AUSTRALIA.
The P.M. s.s. Australia arrived from Sydney at 6.30 o'clock yesterday evening, after an unusually lengthy passage of above five days 5 as leaving Sydney at the same hour of the same day of the week, these boats generally arrive sometime between 1 and 8 on Tuesday morning;. Happily, nothing was wrong ; tfce cause of detention being heavy adverse weatber. We are indebted to the purser, Mr. Daniel Dean, for the latest, files, Press parcels, and the following report: — Discharged the pilot off Sydney Heads at 4.15 p.m. on Jasraary 27, with a moderate breeze and clear weather. Met with strong winds, cloudy weather, and high head 3ea 011 the following morning. Experienced high head sea up to the morning of February "i. Sighted the Three Kings at 6.45 p.m. of January 31, and Van Dieman light at 7.45 p.m. Sighted Tiritiri at 3.40 p.m. on February 1, and was boarded by the pilot off Auckland at 5.30. The Australia resumed her voyage to Honolulu and San Francisco at 1 o'clock this morning, having the outgoing English mail on board.
