ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.
The ordinary meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening. Present : The Mayor (Mr. G. Codlin), and Messrs. Blakey, Broadfoot, Earle, Hartnett, Hills, Jackson, Kelsall, and Tapp. Water.—The return of water supplied to the shipping during the month of November was 34,525 gallons to 29 vessels, producing £14 Ss 6d. Road Works.—Several applications for road works were received. Contractors' Di.spcte.—A petition was received, very numerously signed, asking the Council to agree to refer the matter in dispute between the contractor and the Engineer of the waterworks to arbitration. The difference is solely with reference to extra works on the contract for which the Engineer allowed £ ISO, while the contractor claims £527, and refused to accept the Engineer's certificate, to which he was bound by the contract. The petition was got up and presented by the contractor, was signed by about 220 names, of whom perhaps onehalf only are burgesses.—The petition was received.. Pcmp.—A tender for £12 10s, for the erection of a second pump and platform at the springs, was accepted.
Dogs.—A committee was appointed to take the necessary steps under the Dog Registration Act. The accounts were passed, and the Council adjourned. — [Own Correspondent, December?.]
