[BY CABLE.] THE IRISH DISCONTENTS. [RECTER's CAIiLKORAHS.] London, December G. A largely attended meeting under the auspices of the Irish Land League f was held yesterday at Watcrford. The most prominent agitators were present, and addressed the meeting. Mr. Parnell made a speech on the occasion, and spoke bitterly against the action of the present Government, accusing it of having conspired against the rights of the people of Ireland. UNITED STATES NATIONAL DEBT. Washington, December G. President Hayes lias addressed a message to Congress, in which he recommends that the national debt of tin; United States should be refunded into 3 or ih per cent, bonds, in place of those now bearing interest at from 4 to 6 per cent. SEVERE WINTER IN AMERICA. New York, December G. Owing to the extreme severity of the winter, live million bushels of grain, are now ice-bound in Lake Erie. CHINA PREPARING. Shanghai, December G. News has been received that the Chinese Government has ordered a most formidable ironclad to be constructed at Stettin, a German port in the Baltic. LONDON QUOTATIONS. London, December G. The 3 per cent. Consols are lOlf. Adelaide wheat, per 49Glbs., ex warehouse, 51s. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,9-10,000 quarters.
