London - , Norcmber 2 The sculling match took place over the usual champion course on the Thames today, between Laycock, of Sydney, and Hasmer, of Boston, America, for £200 aside. The race resulted in h somewhat easy victory for Laycock by three lengths. THE SCULLING REFEREE. London, November 3. Mr. John Ireland has been appointed to act as referee in the sculling.match between Edwavd Trickett, of Australia, and Hanlan, of Canada. SOUTH AFRICAN TROUBLE INCREASING. Capetown, November 2. Official reports from the oilicera who are conducting operations in Basutoland state that the position of the Cape forces is most critical. Several other hostile tribes, in addition to the Pondos, have now joined the Basutos.
