THAMES HEMATITE.
TO THS EDITOR. Sir,—ln yours of the 29th instant, I observe a letter signed by Mr. Bennett, of Tararu, casting reflections upon myself and my works. In answer, I can only state that he has been drawing upon his own imagination, and to forward his own ends. He states that I draw my supply of crude ore from the Collarbone Spur, where it is only in limited quantities. I beg to inform him that I have unlimited quantities of my metal, not only there, but all over the field. The demand for it is daily increasing, and I trust to mature it to a great permament industry. To account for his other remarks regarding absence, I would inform him that the ore is selected carefully by myself, which necessitated my absenting myself from the works, and as my market is outside of the Thames, and not doing a "retail" of my wares, I took advantage of the lull to prooure a stock of the crude material, which, as soon as rain sets in, and water is available for motive power, will be manufactured to supply some heavy orders now on band. I may say that I have always tested samples of pigment from all quarters, and when a really good article is found I order some, make it into paint, and place it on the market; and for the honour of the province, I am pleased when I hava obtained something new or valuable to add to our industries.—l am, &c., e. R. Edwards.
