STARTING OF THE ALBTJRNIA MACHINERY. [by telegraph, own correspondents.] Thauks, Tuesday. 'Jl'hk Albumia battery was started to-day, in the presence of a large number of the leading citzens, mine managers, brokers, and others interested ia mining affairs. About 1 o'clock the water was turned on to the turbine and everything was found to work smoothly and satisfactorily, the battery was then stopped for a few minutes, and Mr. Thomas Macffarlane addressed a few words to those present, and declared the battery open. His Worship the Mayor of Thames also male a few remarks, concluding by calling for three cheers for the Albumia Company and its energetic directors. All w*re then invited to partake of refreshments, which had been provided, and driuk success to the new battery and the Alburnia Company. For its size, the battery is one of the best on the field, and it is fitted up with a large number of berdans. The directors visited the mine during the morning and expressed themselves satisfied with the future prospects of the company. G'rOUDKN Crown.—The shares in the new company placed on the Thames market have all been taken up, and a. good many more oould have been placed. The pruspects of the company are considered favourable.
