The regulations for the examination of candidates for the Civil Service of India, which is to be held in June, ISSO, appear in the Gazette. The appointment of his Honor Judge Johnston and Mr. W. S. Reid, Solicitor-General, as commissioners under the Revision of Statutes Act, 1579, are gazetted. R. E. Thomas has been appointed cadet in the Resident Magistrate's Court, Auck. land. The following appointments of Volunteer officers has been made : —Wanganui City Rifles : John Wilson to be Lieutenant, aod J. J. Crawford to be Sub-Lieutenant. The resignations of Captain F. Stroup (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry), and Lieutenants Ingles and Leahy (Wellington Naval Brigade) have been accepted. Mr. John Sperry has been appointed Property Tax Commissioner for the colony, under the Property Assessment Act, 1879.
